On 5th of October, the Welcome Day for the new SubSurf students of the winter semester 2023/2024 took place. 
 

In the morning, we started with an official welcome event on campus. Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Torsten Wichtmann, the course director, welcomed the new students and introduced the course and the supervisory team. 

Afterwards, Dipl.-Ing. Jörg Sahlmen, the general coordinator of the programme, welcomed the students and gave a presentation about Bochum, the Ruhr University and the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering as well as the Faculty of Geosciences. 
Following this, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Torsten Wichtmann informed about the timetable, the courses and the exams in the first semester. Some students from the older semesters were also present, welcomed the first-year students and were available to answer questions. 

In the afternoon, all first-year students, seniors, the support team as well as professors and lecturers met outside on campus with snacks and drinks. The students had the opportunity to get to know each other, as well as their professors and lecturers, enjoying the last rays of sunshine.
